Minimum Tensile Strength and Stanchion Support
- Warning line systems must utilize wire rope with a minimum tensile strength of 500lbs.
- Stanchions supporting the warning line should be designed to withstand tipping forces of 16 pounds of pressure at a distance of 30” from the walking or working surface.
- The work area must be enclosed by the warning line system.
- A minimum distance of six feet must be maintained between the warning line and all sides of the work area.
- Warning lines should be marked at intervals not exceeding every 6 feet with high-visibility material.
- The warning line should maintain a height between 34” and 39” from walking or working surfaces.
- Individual sections of the warning line must operate independently.
- Pulling one section of the warning line should not affect the stability or positioning of other sections.
